Anthem E3 Demo Will Feature Combat Showcase

Anthem E3 Demo Will Feature Combat Showcase

Not too long ago, Electronic Arts and BioWare began a teaser campaign for the forthcoming action role-playing game Anthem ahead of its showing during E3 2018, with the publisher and developer issuing mysterious updates about it on both Facebook and Twitter. Now, the companies have decided to be a bit more forthright and offer a better idea of what’s going to be on display at this year’s big industry event by confirming that the game’s E3 demo will feature a combat showcase.

This much was revealed in a recent blog post by Electronic Arts, with the publishing titan stating that Anthem will be shown off on June 9, 2018 at 11:00 AM PDT during its EA Play showcase at E3 2018 to offer “a detailed look at the gameplay” for the title. To be more specific, the company revealed that one aspect that would be shown more “in-depth this time around” will be combat, as “the power of the Javelin exosuit will be on full display as players take on the most ferocious enemies seen yet.”

BioWare Anthem no dynamic difficulty adjustment

Since Anthem‘s reveal last year, fans have been debating how specific combat-related features in the game could operate. As a matter of fact, the game’s subreddit discussed the idea of weapon progression and weapon systems several months ago, with the title’s Technical Design Director Brenon Holmes having chimed in on the matter. The BioWare dev didn’t specifically clarify how it would work, but he did say that it will offer MMO and RPG styled options depending on the “area of progression.” Hopefully, though, this issue will be explained more thoroughly during the game’s combat showcase at E3.

As far as adversaries are concerned, the only baddies shown thus far have been the ones on display during Anthem‘s gameplay unveiling at Xbox’s E3 2017 press conference. With this being the case, there’s no telling what Electronic Arts means by “the most ferocious enemies yet”, but perhaps the foes will be sturdy enough to provide BioWare with the chance to detail what makes each of the action-RPG’s various classes unique.

Taking all of this into consideration, it will be interesting to see what kind of combat Anthem will have to show for fans at E3 2018. Many have previously touted the forthcoming title as a “Destiny-killer”, so there’s a chance that the combat shown could offer glimpses at a battle system much more engaging than that of Bungie’s science fiction shooter franchise.

Anthem is currently scheduled for release at some point in early 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
