It’s true that most of the Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery experience boils down to tapping on energy meters, but there’s also some combat in the game as well. Dueling is a fairly major part of Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, and while it’s mostly straightforward, there is one boss fight that appears to be giving some players trouble. Please note that this article will have some spoilers for Year 2 of the game.
The boss fight in question occurs at the end of Year 2, when players are attempting to enter the Cursed Vault alongside Bill Weasley and another friend of their choosing. It’s at this point that they are attacked by a magic Ice Knight, which proves to be a rather formidable opponent, especially compared to the other witches and wizards players have dueled in the game so far.
The battle plays out like other duels in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, meaning that it basically boils down to rock, paper, scissors, with Aggressive stance beating Sneaky stance, Sneaky stance beating Defensive stance, and Defensive stance beating Aggressive stance. However, the strategy comes with exactly which spell players should select after they win the stance battle.
The easiest way to win this duel is to hit the Ice Knight with Incendio. Incendio has a chance to deal large damage over time, which means the Ice Knight will take damage even when players fail to counter his attacks. This is extremely helpful, as the Ice Knight is capable of dealing a lot of damage and ending the duel fairly early.
Incendio can only be cast if players use an Aggressive stance that beats the opponent’s Sneaky stance. So it may be best to just spam Aggressive stance until the Ice Knight uses a Sneaky stance, at which point players can cast the spell and hopefully continue dealing damage to him over the course of the duel.
Healing is also something to keep in mind. Healing spells can be cast if players beat an Aggressive stance with a Defensive one, so it may be good to use a healing spell that heals over time to protect against future attacks from the Ice Knight. This way players can make sure their witch or wizard stays healed, while the Ice Knight continues to receive damage through Incendio.
