Destiny 2 Player Reaches Legend Crucible Rank

Destiny 2 Player Reaches Legend Crucible Rank

It’s done. One Destiny 2 player has achieved the highest rank in the game’s new competitive crucible ranking system, appropriately titled Legend.

Content Creator One Second Kill is the first known player to hit the rank of Legend in the competitive ranking system, the highest tier for that particular playlist. It took him just over one week from the launch of Warmind to hit the milestone, an impressive feat.

For those that might not be familiar, Destiny 2 added a new ranking system to the Crucible for both the Competitive and Casual Playlists. While the casual ranking system, called Valor, is straightforward – losses boost rank a small amount, wins boost more – the Competitive system, called Glory, requires more skill.

In essence, a player that reaches the rank of Legend in the Competitive Ranking system needs to win tons more games than they lose. The Glory ranking system does have a win streak bonus (up to 5 wins and then it resets) but it also has a loss streak bonus, so those that win about 50% of games won’t see much progress at all.

According to One Second Kill, ranking up in the Competitive playlist required relying on “meta weapons” like the Graviton Lance and a SMG like the Antiope-D. Since the exotic weapon retuning, Graviton Lance has become a popular choice in PvE and PvP. It also doesn’t hurt that his highest win streak was 95 games.

Some might scoff at Destiny 2’s ranking system considering someone hit max rank thus far, but that undermines One Second Kill’s accomplishment. While some players tried to grind power level to claim World’s First on the Spire of Stars Raid Lair, this player focused on reaching the top rank in Glory and did so in record time.

Unfortunately, Bungie claims it does not have any way to track World’s First for reaching Legend rank in the Crucible, but the developer did acknowledge One Second Kill’s accomplishment. Only he can see he truly became legend, and claimed the ornament for Redrix’s Claymore on the way.

Destiny 2: Warmind is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
