Pokemon GO Update: Quality Of Life Improvement For Raids

Pokemon GO Update: Quality Of Life Improvement For Raids

Pokemon GO players often complained about a lack of updates in the early months of the game, but, since then, Niantic has really picked up the pace on feature updates and bug fixes. The latest major feature changes rolled out Research quests that give players daily activities to complete, but a smaller update just snuck in a few nice quality of life improvements.

The minor change from the recent Pokemon GO update that is getting the most attention is a small checkmark that tells players if they have already completed the quest from a particular Pokestop, but that’s not the only QOL improvement that has arrived. Another tweak is easy to overlook, but makes the leveling and stardust grind much easier for raiders.

During a Battle Raid, players have the chance to access a Team Select window, which includes an Items button. The Items menu was originally designed to offer a simplified version of inventory, so that players could revive and heal their fighters. The new change adds Star Pieces and Lucky Eggs to that menu.

This may sound like an unimportant change, but it’s actually really convenient for players who don’t want to waste timed items during the painful two minute wait before a raid starts. Lucky Eggs are precious resources during the leveling experience and Star Pieces are valuable forever, so not popping them until closer to the Battle Raid end time is a big advantage.

A raid lobby usually takes two minutes to fire off and then the raid itself can take a few minutes. In the world of timed bonus resources, that handful of minutes could amount to a lot of lost value.

Although the change isn’t going to blow any minds, it is a great indicator that Niantic is continuing to tweak and improve wherever it can. Battle Raids were once plagued with bugs, but the system has really come a long way since last summer.

We look forward to seeing what other improvements are in store for future updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!

Pokemon GO is currently available on Android and iOS devices in select regions.
