The first Dead Rising game has been an Xbox 360 exclusive since it released in August of 2006, but it looks like that’s going to change. Trophies for a PlayStation 4 version of Dead Rising have appeared online, suggesting that the game is getting a current-gen remaster ahead of the release of Dead Rising 4 later this year.
The artwork for the trophies has been updated, and a platinum trophy has been added, but otherwise, they are identical to the achievements on Xbox 360. This seems to indicate that the new version of Dead Rising won’t feature any new gameplay mechanics, but perhaps it will receive a visual upgrade, and if fans are lucky, maybe the game’s spotty companion AI will receive some attention.
While the trophies are for a PS4 version of Dead Rising, one has to imagine that the remaster is probably coming to Xbox One as well. After all, Capcom seems to have a strong relationship with Microsoft, as Dead Rising 4 is a timed Xbox One and Windows 10 exclusive, and the original Dead Rising remained exclusive to Xbox 360 for a decade. Furthermore, Capcom prioritizes remasters to try to maximize its profits, and the more systems the Dead Rising remaster is available on, the more copies it can sell.
By bringing Dead Rising to more platforms, Capcom could also be looking to build hype for the upcoming Dead Rising 4. Both Dead Rising 4 and the original game star
August 8th would be a good time for Capcom to officially announce this remaster as well, assuming it exists. However, if August 8th comes and goes without any mention of the Dead Rising remaster, an announcement could still come next month, as August also features the annual Gamescom event in Cologne, Germany. Fans will just have to wait and see if there is any legitimacy behind this leaked list of Dead Rising PS4 trophies, but at this point, it seems like it’s the real deal.
The Dead Rising remaster is supposedly in development for PS4.
