Pokemon GO players have been enjoying the benefits of the new weather system for the last few weeks with increased sightings, more candy, and strength bonuses in certain conditions. The new system has been a big hit with the community, but, unfortunately, some players are experiencing major problems with it this week.
Reports that the Pokemon GO weather features had simply disappeared, or weren’t working as expected, started to appear on Reddit and Twitter early this week and it sounds like the developer is now aware of the problems and working to find a fix for the impacted users.
Here is the official word from Niantic on the issue…
We're currently investigating an issue which is preventing Trainers from experiencing the dynamic weather system in Pokémon GO. Thanks for your patience as we work on a fix. https://t.co/TYjuDDNL2Q

There is no timeline for when a patch will arrive to resolve the issues with the weather features, but it’s good to know that Niantic is on the case. Earlier in the game’s lifecycle, one of the biggest complaints from users was a lack of communication from the team. The game may still have some of its early problems and some key missing features, but the devs and community manager have been doing a much better job of communicating with the playerbase about their priorities.
We’ll keep an eye out for a weather bug hotfix and update when everything has been resolved. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
Pokemon GO is available now in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
